Well, isn’t this the coolest quiz I’ve ever taken. I found it through the Invisible Woman.
You’re The Guns of August!
by Barbara Tuchman
Though you’re interested in war, what you really want to know is what
causes war. You’re out to expose imperialism, militarism, and nationalism for what they really are. Nevertheless, you’re always living in the past and have a hard time dealing with what’s going on today. You’re also far more focused on Europe than anywhere else inthe world. A fitting motto for you might be “Guns do kill, but so can diplomats.”
Take the Book Quiz at the Blue Pyramid.

I just logged in to the library web site and put it on hold. I’ll pick it up tomorrow.
I read that book many years ago, but the thing I remember the most vividly is the funeral of Edward VII in the beginning when all the “great powers” of the time gathered for the last time, given that after the war, so many of them would be gone (the royal houses of Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire….). Tuchman is a gifted writer of history.
