Author: I’m taking a break from this. I’ve lost my perspective and lost sight of my original intent in starting a blog. This was supposed to be a place for my brand of goofy crap, with the odd foray into more meaty matters.
I’ve upset two friends this week and I regret that deeply. One was completely inadvertent; the other was a jab in ribs taken too far. While only one them called me names, the fact remains that this isn’t what I want to accomplish here.
I know of a local blogger who has fallen into the trap of believing his own hype and taking his blog far too seriously, while publicly mocking others he views as having done the same. In the process, he’s driven away the vast majority of his commenters. When I started this thing, I didn’t really care if anybody read my tripe. Now, I find myself in the odd position of caring. So, off I go into the wilderness for a time. We’ll talk when I get back.

Blogging turned out to be harder than I thought it would be too.
I started my blog to rant and rave about the silly things and the important things too. I thought it would be a great forum to vent because I never think anyone would read it. Even if they did why would I care what people I don’t know think? But, try as I might not to, I do. That really screws it up doesn’t it? Well, it screws up the original intention but what I gain is much more valuable, friends. People I respect and want to respect me.
So how do you have real meaningful, meaty, discussions about subjects people are passionate about without stepping on any toes? I dunno. If you figure it out let me know because I’m interested. I love politics but you won’t see me talking about it on my blog. It’s to much of a hot button topic. If I were true to my original blog concept I wouldn’t care but as I’ve stated, I do.
Ok, I’m rambling. I’m just trying to say I feel your pain. Kudos to you for recognizing that real people with real feelings are involved and for taking the time to step back and evaluate things. I think it says a lot about you.

Yikes! Sorry about your hiatus . . . I routinely piss people off, though my blog is decidedly stupid so nobody can really take that much offense.
