A Bit About Me

I'm a father of two, husband, an IT professional, old-school hacker, reformed photojournalist, autodidact, beer brewer, beekeeper and a general pain-in-the-ass. I prefer the more general term of "weirdo".

Welcome to my brain. Enjoy the ride and please fasten your seat belt.

I’m still alive, I just haven’t had much to write about. Well, nothing much healthy. Just things that make my blood pressure skyrocket.

I’m really trying to concentrate more on the good things and not the idiocy of the world. To that end, I’ve mostly weaned myself from the CBC as my daily soundtrack. Don’t get me wrong, I love the mother broadcaster still. She’s just not all that healthy for me to listen to all the time. I changed my browser start page away from Google News as well. It’s good. This way, I don’t wind up dwelling on the continuing stream of depravity and outrage in the world.

Generally, only the major issues of the day filter down to the local classic rock station and I can deal with those. :-)

I’m still a news addict, though. I scan a series of political and news blogs and that keeps me informed on the other stuff, I’m just no longer mainlining the stuff all day long. The North American MSM isn’t doing it’s job particularly well anyway. This never played over here, it’s been left to the Times and bloggers.

Anyway, enough rambling. I’m here. I’m working on getting back at it. I’ll finish the Disney report today or tomorrow. Promise.

Take your time.  I have the same problem with the news.  I get worked into knots.

  • I barely read/watch the news anymore… it was making me nuts. My blood pressure is high enouhg on its own.

Watching the news for me is like watching COPS or America’s Most Wanted.  I feel bad for those people, I want them to stop stealing and shooting each other, and I generally feel healthier when I abstain from subjecting myself to it.

It’s not a coincidence that things have gotten worse since the 24-hour news networks appeared on the scene. A steady stream of unconfirmed news, hearsay and rumours is NOT a good thing. Damn you, Ted Turner!!!
