I heard a newish version of O Come All Ye Faithful on the radio this afternoon and while I haven’t bought any new Christmas CDs in years, I might have to make an exception in this case:
I seem to be a on a music kick this week. Terrible. 
Anyway, I’ve been sort of following a local blues band called Mojo Shooter on Facebook for awhile and finally got to hear them on the local radio station’s morning show today. Wow. Bridget, who doesn’t share my affinity for the blues, even suggested that I should play it for our boys. Introduce them to the harmonica. 
If you think about it, the mouth organ’s the perfect instrument to get a kid started on music: a basic one is cheap, it’s reasonably durable and there’s no shortage of music available for it.
I just ran across these time-lapse movies of the Swiss Alps. They’re incredibly beautiful and the Beethoven soundtrack only helps them even more:
http://www.vimeo.com/7700248Being Canadian has some distinct advantages. Among other things, it’s not illegal to download mp3s. I’ve availed myself of this particular privilege for a very long time and I’ve happened upon some really interesting music along the way that I wouldn’t have otherwise found. Charlie Winston, for instance. He’s a Brit signed to Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records label. I downloaded his CD, Hobo, a month or so ago, but hadn’t really had a chance to listen to it until this morning on my way to work.
Wow.
I was listening to BB King at lunch today while I cut Kub Kars out on the bandsaw and I just love the first track from his 2008 CD One Kind Favor. It’s an old Blind Lemon Jefferson tune from the 20’s called See That My Grave is Kept Clean. Here’s BB at the Cognac Blues Passion Festival last July:
