That was the request from the back seat this afternoon on our way to pick up B from work. Cameron, apparently, has developed a taste for the music of our forefathers.
It’s not quite what you might think, though. It starts with Scotland the Brave, but throw in a punk sensibility and you have the Dropkick Murphys. I guess I’m doing my job right when my youngest asks me to play something that really rocks the place out.
It brought a tear to my eye.
As I said, it might as well be summer here in Eastern Ontario. Warm sunny days, the odd thunderstorm, what else could you want?
Music, that’s what.
I was trolling about one of my online music sources and ran across a blast from my past: Doug and The Slugs.
Come to think of it, I wonder why this hasn’t been picked up for commercials for a certain type of men’s medication.
This is cool. Tristan Jehan, from the MIT Media lab has come up with a nifty bit of code to turn any piece of music into a swing number. No, I’m not kidding.
The python script works by time-stretching the first half of each beat, while time-shrinking the second half. Check out White Rabbit:
I should feed Iggy and the Stooges into it and see what comes out.
