I’ve never been able to wade my way through any of Jane Austen’s stuff. The whole upper-crusty, heaving bosom and propriety genre just bores me to tears.

So I was really quite interested in Pride And Prejudice And Zombies was released. What a great way to liven up some interminably dull prose! No such luck. Same old dreck, with the odd bit of brain-munching. I couldn’t even get through the comic book. Bleah. I kept hoping for the “unmentionables” to overrun the house and kill everyone, but it didn’t happen. At least not as far as I read.

Today, I was working my way through some back posts on the blogs that I read (terribly behind, sorry) and this was posted to BoingBoing on Saturday. Jane Austen Fight Club:

Well, a subway.

Improv Everywhere is at it again. You remember them, don’t you? Their slogan is “We Cause Scenes” and they certainly do. Whether it’s sending 200 “agents” to freeze in place at New York’s Grand Central Station or their annual no pants subway ride, whatever they stage is sure to get noticed.

You’ve seen Star Wars, right? Yes, Ep4, the first of the good movies. You should recall the first meeting of Princess Leia and Darth Vader. Picture this:

The white walls and sliding doors on the train reminded us of the rebel ship from the movie, and we thought it would be fun to see how people would react to a surprise appearance by the iconic characters. We spread out the actors along the train line, staging it so they would enter the right car at the right time.

Pete Zedlacher is very funny guy. We just watched this performance on CBC and I think it’s a good one for Canada Day. Oh, and yes: the Canada goose really is that obnoxious.
